Does the Rough Country Hidden Winch Kit hurt the approach angle?

It's hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like it sits pretty low compared to the stock skid plate. Can anyone that has one verify?

Here's a couple pics of mine. I left chunks of the bashplate attached on each side to fill the void. It hangs down and forward maybe 1.5", don't know degree angle loss.

PS Comparing the RC photos to mine, it looks like they've simplified the bashplate profile around the RC logo

It has to. I mean they are putting a winch there. Your only question is how much angle are you willing to compromise?

I purchased the same hidden mount with the PRO12000S winch. Awaiting for it to arrive from RC. That picture represents exactly my setup, 5" lift, frame horn tow points and bumpers.

I don’t think that stock image is indicative of what it really looks like. I can’t imagine I lost more than 1” at most from the factory skid. Just digging into old photos…

Thanks for the replies so far. I was going to pull the trigger but a friend mentioned I was going to lose approach angle. Being new to off-road I am not sure if the amount I will lose is significant or not?

@dgorsett Your pictures it looks like it hangs down more than @redone17 but yours are at a different angle.

There is a thread that the fairlead was grafted into the stock skidplate. That seems like the least approach angle lost.

That's a custom install. Not good reference for what you are doing.
