Door Panel Gasket Replacement?

Any ever have to replace a door panel gasket on 6G? Small issue that bothers me more than it probably should….

My driver’s side door window doesn’t seal perfectly when closed. It seems the small triangular piece of gasket that sandwiches the window when closed (front-most corner nearest the side view mirror) was warped/damaged from factory. When my window is fully closed, the warp doesn’t allow for a flush seal against the glass, and significant wind noise gets through. (It’s a Bronco, I know) My concern is water intrusion. If that much wind is getting through I can’t imagine water will not. Haven’t driven in the rain yet, so I can’t confirm either way.

I am able to press against the stretched/bulged warp while driving (forgot to mention the protrusion is on the inside portion) and the wind noise stops completely. I suspect a new gasket will fix the problem.

For anyone who might have replaced this gasket (it runs the entire perimeter of the inner door, between the metal and the plastic door panel, and comes up at a small triangle in the forward-most part of the door), is this just a press-on like most weather strips? Or does it require adhesive?

Sounds like a relatively new Bronco. I would take it back to your dealer, show him the issue, how it doesn't seal properly and they will probably replace it under warranty.

I think i have the same issue or similar. that same corner piece is wearing away the the thin coat of rubber on the frame gasket when closing because that piece is warped. do you have a picture? Also did you find the part and how to install?

I think i have the same issue or similar. that same corner piece is wearing away the the thin coat of rubber on the frame gasket when closing because that piece is warped. do you have a picture? Also did you find the part and how to install?
I haven’t replaced it. I got a quote from the dealership with the part number, but I never swapped it. I believe it was something like $155 if I’m not mistaken. I bought a sheet of neoprene-like gasket material with adhesive backing, cut a piece to size, and adhered that to the gasket on the door side. When I close the door it forces the small warp to flatten out and took care of the wind intrusion. I can confirm it is watertight as well. The idea was to create flexible compression against the a-pillar when I close the door that would also be rigid enough to brace the warp. My wind noise issue went away. Quick, easy and cheap fix that you will likely not notice is there unless you looked for it. It’s worked for me for six months so far.

First pic shows my jerry rigged insert. Second one shows what I needed to achieve: compression to press the “bubble” against the driver door glass and stop the wind/water intrusion (window glare on the left, but you get the idea). The material I used is linked below.

Do you happen to know what the part number is or what what that triangle window guide piece on the door is called. I cant find a picture or anything to figure out how it's installed. There's definitely something off with mine in how it's installed or manufactured.

‘8L2Z-7820531-A, Description: Weather Strip A’ is what I got from the dealer. The triangle is part of the gasket that runs the entire perimeter of the door panel. It’s not a standalone part. About eight months ago list price was $181.04.

$180 wtf. My front "triangles" are worn with little tears in it. Guess I'll convince myself they don't need fixed.

Common issue with these things, some people got it corrected under warranty, but many dealers call it "Normal" and won't touch it. I used to stick a matchbook in my passenger side to keep the wind noise down, but it eventually kinda unwarped itself back.

I think I saw someone hit theirs with a heat gun and had some luck.

Under that bubbled up rubber/plastic on the interior (just under the triangle on the door side) is a bolt. If you loosen it, the whole triangle can be moved. Not to a large degree but I was able to stop the triangle from rubbing on the body side trim when I closed the door. Unfortunately some damage had been done before I caught this, but thought it was worth noting.

How is this holding up? Curious if the foam would create any additional wear. I'm considering adding as well because my driver window wobbles when I close the door and thinking this might help get a little more compression on the glass when shutting the door.
