Long post warning!

My Wildtrak arrived last week at Chapman Ford of Northeast Philly, so my son and I flew from Charleston to Newark, then hitched a ride with family to the dealership. Overall, the experience was great, other than the fact that they "lost" my Bestop, and had to "find" it in the parts area. No clue if that was intentionally overlooked, but I'm naturally skeptical of dealerships. We drove 1040 miles in the first three days of ownership, killed immeasurable amounts of bugs, ate a LOT, and had a great bonding experience. I figured I'd share these pictures, if anyone was interested...

Early start at the Charleston airport, 0615 on Friday morning. He wanted Dunkin'.

PXL_20221014_142430484.jpg

There she is, prepped and ready to go (without the Bestop in the trunk). I told them I didn't want a dealer sticker, but they didn't listen.

PXL_20221014_183530780.jpg

My grandparents both just passed, so I wanted to visit my hometown and see their house one last time.

PXL_20221014_155950251.jpg

Along the way, we stopped to take the front roof panels off, but having not done my research beforehand, I didn't want to try to stow them and screw anything up, so they went back on. He approves of the top being off, though!

PXL_20221014_172323588.jpg

After my grandparents house, we hit up Pete and Elda's, where eating a XXL pizza by yourself gets you a t-shirt. I've done this a few times in my life, but this was the kid's first attempt. He was cocky, going in.

After pizza, we hopped on the road and made it to our first hotel, in Woodstock, VA. This is not Christine, but it's pretty cool.

Early start with some Youtube before getting shitty coffee at the hotel.

Next up was Luray Caverns. I had been once before, probably when I was about his age, but he's never done anything like this.

PXL_20221016_160516951.jpg

Immediately after this, a dog got loose, and we had to chase it throughout the parking lot.

PXL_20221016_172844643.jpg

Found a spot on Route 41 to take a picture of her. I was utterly exhausted, at this point.

PXL_20221016_192932413.jpg

Home, and hanging out with her sister. When I backed the Mustang into this position, she tried to stall out on me, like she could smell another horsie on me that would take up my time.

PXL_20221017_195707233.jpg

He and I got to work installing mods. Bartact grab handles, Gorilla lug nuts with locks, Rekgen mud flaps, Mabett floor mats and cargo protector, and a KYKR screen protector.

PXL_20221017_195714407.jpg

The Wildtrak badging is going to go away on the fenders, and she'll get black Bronco script badges. The BRONCO logo on the grill is also going to get blacked out. Installing the hoist this weekend, and pulling the hard top to install the Bestop for the winter.

JR
Thank you for sharing. Glad you're enjoying your Bronco and thank you for being part of the Ford Family!

Perfect road trip. Looking forward to seeing your rig around Charleston - Good Luck
Looks like a good trip and good memories! We'll be driving back from Granger in Iowa to just a bit south of Charleston and have a few places I want to see on the way down. I made the mistake of Bucees once, never again!
In the 1000+ miles that I drove from Philly to Charleston, I saw exactly one other Bronco. Dropped my kid at school today, and saw three. Maybe once y'all get your trucks, and @saltybrewer gets theirs, we can try to coordinate a Cars and Coffee or Ale and Octane.

Congratulations on the bronco. Simply awesome. I have pretty much the same build as you (WT, race red, 4 Door, MIC w/ soft top, tow, Lux). Your photos are making me want my bronco now. I'm going to Shenandoah next week as well.

Scheduled for 11/28. Hopefully no more bumps and I get it by Dec. Would be a nice Christmas gift to myself.
Good luck! You're going to love it! I wish I had gone with the Lux package and HOSS 3.0, but I'm happy with the build. The only thing I really wanted from Lux was the garage door opener, so I might add that after the fact. Did you go with the factory soft top or Bestop?

I chose the dual top option (MIC and Soft top). It just says Soft top so I'm guessing its the factory soft top. I haven't done too much research into the differences in the soft tops since I was planning on getting the roof rack which requires the hard top. I eventually went dual top because I wanted to the ability to fold the soft top back on the fly when I'm not in need of the roof rack/hard top.

Great times!

I went to school at UVA right next to skyline drive. Truly some good ole' American landscape terrain views to be had there.

I love that stripe! I'd really like to do that, in addition to the Bronco script badges, but I think it'll look too busy.

Found a spot on Route 41 to take a picture of her. I was utterly exhausted, at this point.

Home, and hanging out with her sister. When I backed the Mustang into this position, she tried to stall out on me, like she could smell another horsie on me that would take up my time.

He and I got to work installing mods. Bartact grab handles, Gorilla lug nuts with locks, Rekgen mud flaps, Mabett floor mats and cargo protector, and a KYKR screen protector.

The Wildtrak badging is going to go away on the fenders, and she'll get black Bronco script badges. The BRONCO logo on the grill is also going to get blacked out. Installing the hoist this weekend, and pulling the hard top to install the Bestop for the winter.

There she is, prepped and ready to go (without the Bestop in the trunk). I told them I didn't want a dealer sticker, but they didn't listen.

My grandparents both just passed, so I wanted to visit my hometown and see their house one last time.

Along the way, we stopped to take the front roof panels off, but having not done my research beforehand, I didn't want to try to stow them and screw anything up, so they went back on. He approves of the top being off, though!

After my grandparents house, we hit up Pete and Elda's, where eating a XXL pizza by yourself gets you a t-shirt. I've done this a few times in my life, but this was the kid's first attempt. He was cocky, going in.

Five slices down, and he was hurting.

He finished, though!

There's a vintage car museum at Luray Caverns that's included with your admission. Nothing is newer than ~WWII.

We found a bunch of these little ringneck snakes at one of the scenic overlooks. Coincidentally, we also ended up talking to a couple who owned a 4D Wrangler (him). She wants to replace her current Honda SUV with a Bronco!

500 miles on day 2, while we were on Skyline Drive. BTW, driving almost 100 miles at 35 MPG takes FOR-EVER!

There's a cool beehive with exposed window panes when you're walking down through the visitor's center.

Dinner was in Salem, VA. This "roadside attraction" was next to our gas stop on Route 220. No comment.

We just got a Buc-ee's in Florence, SC, so we hit them on the way back. It's an absolute shit show. Like, if you have anxiety, don't even try.

Pete & Elda's? You should have had fun with him and said you were going to Vic's right after. I'm in Point. Used to live in Ocean Grove.

Enjoy your new Bronco! Glad you had a good time with your son!

See, it would have been Squan Tavern for me. I think I'm the only person from the Neptune area that doesn't like Vic's.

Honestly, I should have taken him to Hoffman's for some ice cream.
