Friday night we emptied out the firewood trailer and I still had the truck hooked to the big trailer so I thought I would just use the OB to take the trailer down to the farm to drop it off and grab the snowmobile. First off the spare hangs low so I need to open the back up to get it hooked up and latched correctly(didn't do this with the wood trailer and the wife when she hooked it up didn't notice it was latched on top of the ball and not under it....trailer popped off going up a steep hill but no damage other than the plastic tool box on the trailer(it shattered without hitting anything) one of the safety chains popped off but the other one held it fine and we just hooked it back up). This wood trailer is a homemade pos but it gets the job done and is heavy duty and safe, it just doesn't tow very good behind anything, and it towed about as I expected it would behind the OB, it weighs maybe 1000lbs. empty. Dropped it off at the farm and picked up the sled, 1 sled and trailer and this maybe weighs about the same 1000lbs but pulls much better than the other trailer.
A couple things I noticed, my unit came with tow package but it doesn't have a tow haul mode, I thought this was odd, our Explorer had tow haul mode for the same tow capacity.
When pulling up a hill using power there is a pretty good vibration that I don't like, has anyone else noticed anything when towing?
I pulled up the owners manual and it doesn't seem to have much information on towing, I wish it would adjust the shift points like my other vehicles namely the F150 and Explorer, but overall not a big deal since it will not really ever tow much....the most I would use it for is running stuff back and forth from the house to our storage shed on the farm about 8-9 miles away. Just wondering if I need to take it in and have them dig into the vibration.
