They are stored all over anything I wheel with, and now under the hood: I found a perfect spot, tested over many months and terrains, for my go-to inspection light. Velcro holds it in place. Easy to grab when ambient or my under-hood light strip doesn’t cut it.

That's a nice little spot! Blends right in, too. Texture of the plastics is very similar. Have you noticed if it affects the flow of air to the intake? Curious since you're partially obstructing the louvers and intake path from the cold air intake. I'd be also curious how it holds up there during/after heavy rain.
You mentioned an under-hood strip light too, what're you running for that? And do you have struts holding up the hood or does the hood prop actually clear the flashlight when it's folded back down?

Good catch. I’m no fluid dynamicist but am sensitive to air flow, and it looks fine to me after double checking. Also the plastic isn’t getting effects of being over heated so it looks good.

Hood struts yes, and a 10 inch GreceYou Under Hood LED Light... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R1PC8F4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
light strip adhesived to the hood over the fuse box, manual connection at battery I flick on when needed when hood is open.

I had the optional integrated Underhood Light on my Ram, and I was amazed to see a lack of any similar OEM solution for the F150, Ranger, or Bronco.
There are one or two aftermarket setups but they seem to revolve around universal stick-on LEDs - I find your setup preferable to those things. At least you can point a flashlight.

It’s why I used a small strip and mounted it where is most useful, over battery and fuses. The big strips and A/F setups are good at blinding you while not providing light where it’s needed. That white LED light tone just does not propagate down around everything packed into these tight engine bays.

Which hood struts do you have? Or did they come OEM on certain models? I have a Wildtrak with the lux package, surprised mine didn't come with any hood struts.

Red Line. Look on Amazon, many others are available.

Sweet, love hearing about things others have used. Hard to trust Amazon reviews these days with AI bots taking over review sections lol.

Hmm. Might be time to put the retractable underhood in the Bronco with a couple of rivnuts. Magnetic base, retractable ~15' cord, manual switched. 1156 LED swap, and it's modernized.

88-98 Silverados and some other GMs should have had these if you want to search eBay.

Haven't seen one of those since, like, 40 years before I was born! Neat! Honestly the novelty of it is cooler than using a flashlight lol.

I put Redline on my Subaru in 2013. They're still working great. And Redline supports what they sell. If they go bad, I can get replacement struts without having to buy a new kit. Just reuse the old brackets.

I installed one on my TJ Wrangler- I haven’t found a good location on my 2024 HE - any ideas? I’m unsure of best method with the under hood insulation.

I think it might be easier off the hood and down in the actual engine compartment. I still have to mount an ARB compressor, as it's a single, there might be space for this light on an underhood bracket.

Good point. I was hoping to have it mounted on the hood to provide “basic” light and could deploy it as needed. It was handy on the jeep because I could use it for tires or under the truck as a trouble light.
