Ford Electric Brake Controller testing?

For those that installed the Ford electric brake controller yourself, can you test it to make sure it's working somewhat without a trailer?

Is there any Forscan programming required?

No programming step is required if you already have the trailer tow module (which is included in the tow package or if you installed this kit).

And you can test to see if it is working with a multimeter, some sort of load (like a headlight lightbulb), and a few spare wires.

I do have factory tow so the module should be there.

Yup, you'll have it.

So you just need to put some sort of a load on the trailer brake wire out of the 7-pin (like an auto lightbulb). Connect one lead of the bulb to the Trailer Brake pin, and the other onto the ground. Those two blades should be right next to each other (refer to the diagram).

Higher the trailer brake gain, the brighter the bulb should be when you press the brakes.
