First time towing with my Bronco Wildtrak and new Electric Brake Controller Ford Accessories -- 3300lbs Trailer weight

Yeah this was a big thing when we all found out that the tow package didn't really do anything other than add a hitch and 7-pin wiring.

Typically when you add a tow package to a vehicle, you get things like larger batteries, bigger alternators, extra cooling, ETC. But with the Bronco, you get squat... Adding in the brake controller would at least given us something.

But they nickel and dime you with the Bronco, and they slowly (well maybe not so slowly) have been taking away more and more.

Oh, and in my state, 1,500 lbs requires trailer brakes.

I set my trailer up today with better condors and decided to change up the bikes. Taking my Indian Challenger which weights roughly 850 lbs. and my daughters Honda Rebel 500 which weights roughly 425 lbs. The seller of the trailer claims 2300 Lbs empty trailer. If this is true then I will be at 3600 Lbs and add gear I will be at 3700 lbs at least. Hmm and the way she pulled the other day I think I will be alright. And the run to Fl from Va is pretty damn flat thank goodness. I removed my rear box which that has to be 50 plus pounds and I had gear in it. Leaving Thursday morning which will be the tell all story.

Just installed the ford electronic brake controller tonight, not bad at all. I’ve yet to see how it does, fingers crossed.

Good god, man. Can you maybe edit together a 5 minute summary video? I’m curious to see how the Bronco tows a trailer, but I’m sorry, I can’t sit sit through an hour of you talking about whatever. No offense meant. Just… y’know.

Yeh I hear ya and I can just tell you the Bronco is bad ass towing 3800 lbs yes I towed more than the limit. She is so confident at all speeds and can haul ass in the Highway. MPG is consistent 9 mpg regular or premium. But I haul ass like 80 plus on the highways. She has tons of power and will hang with all the big boys towing as well.

Nothing major but with the Electric Brake setting on my trailer the trailer would easily stop the vehicle and the brakes on the Bronco are spot on. Keep in mind I was 300 Plus pounds over the recommended 3500 rating. The vehicle is incredibly stable and confident and I’m not bragging but 85-90 speeds here and there.

Thank you for the informative video; got my parts this weekend and was planning to do the same install. That said, Ford provided me only the flat 4 harness. Our Bronco didn’t get the tow package from factory per supply issues. Any idea what harness / plug fits the bumper? Dealership says the parts manual is incomplete.

Without the factory tow package you cannot get a 7 pin connector. None is available from anywhere.
