Agree - it would be so much easier and better, PR-wise, for Ford to point to the chip shortage. Why in the world would they lie about tops being an issue?

Aside from the fact that we've had multiple reports from people over the last couple of months that things at the Webasto plant weren't going well, some just really want to pursue this idea that Ford is lying about that. The problem is the lie serves no purpose...

A 600 FICO score is pretty bad. "fair" doesn't even start until you're at 650. Most zero % financing offers typically require 740 or higher.

Ford is lying about the chip shortage to protect its stock price. The reality is they are offering money to customers to fuck off because they need the launch of these new products to not be an unmitigated disaster.


Like i said , if you guys managed to rub some IQ points together you would understand if it was a TOP SHORTAGE that was preventing the bronco from shipping then the mach - e would not be excluded from this 1000 dollar deal. This is like a last ditch effort from ford to try to fix this issue before they start having to give out emails to people saying there is a hard delay into my22.

You do realize they may have procured the chips for the Bronco and Mach-E prior to the COVID situation? Most of those contracts to get those projects launched were in place months to years before they were officially announced. What got the automakers in trouble was that they curtailed their orders at the beginning of the pandemic expecting a downturn. That capacity that would have gone to the automakers got re-routed to other electronic goods. Those electronics exploded when people began to work from home. When the downturn in auto sales never materialized there was now a shortage of supply to direct back to them. So, there can be plenty of chips set aside to launch the Bronco and Mach-E but not enough to build the other products in their lineups. Not to mention, there's not some singular "magical" chip that's installed across the board in every product. They all have different configurations for the different platforms. So even if Ford could redirect the Bronco or Mach-E supply they locked down before COVID there's no guarantee they'd be compatible with the new target platform.

WTH!?

My guess is they don't need to offer $1,000 for us to wait because we already are waiting. We've clearly indicated that we are willing to wait without an incentive.
