I’m picturing a bent hitch/frame. There is no triangulation on the stock hitch or really the cross member it’s bolted to. With all that leverage and additional weight I’m guessing there would be damage with as little as 200#.

Actually, I put a jack stand under the hitch, so the load was straight down on the jack stand. It turns out that the planet is strong enough to support the load.

That certainly changes the physics, but it’s not shown in the picture so I wasn’t making assumptions.
