I have a JCR Aluminum winch bumper and TD kit…done a few off angle pulls with no problem…very happy with the setup but drilling all them holes was a pita…

I am looking to go with the vanguard winch bumper with the pre runner bar. Please excuse my ignorance. What is a TD kit? What holes did you have to drill?

TD kit is a discontinued option. Stick with the other recommendations above.

Probably MT by a hair. That 4 week lead time is a bit excessive, if I played by that model I might still be making them but I don't like making a buyer wait.
What if we are willing to wait? Was the lead time the only reason you stopped?

It's just a part of it. My lower volume means higher production costs per set, and fronting large sums of money for bigger runs was a financial strain.

Totally understand that aspect.

If I didn't already put on the LOD set I'd go with the Maximus.
LOD: Had to cut off some tabs to fit the skid plate. Has extra holes to drill if you want to use them. Also a PITA to use nuts/washers on back side in that tight space.
Maximus: 1/4" plate. That bend they added looks like it will add some good support. Welded nuts. No cutting, no drilling. Did I mention 1/4" THICK Plate!?

I'm trying to understand if this solution from Maximus can prevent upward loads? Is there something that will prevent it from rotating on the single bolt on the back?

Sure, will definitely help with pulling loads but some of the better ones should help with upward or downward loads.

I think the force would have to pivot on that single bolt and the front face plate coupled with the bracket wouldn't be able to do that without enough force to bend the whole rail, which in that case I don't think any additional bracket would prevent. I didn't drill or put 2 bolts in my LOD brackets with this in mind. If I'm wrong, I hope I never find out. Having only winched 2X since install they both were pulling right or left, not up/down.

Maximus-3 is the only bracket that has "2 bends". This creates a triangle against the frame horn. This should theoretically improve reinforcement in left and right pulls, more than other brands. Even though it doesn't have gussets, I bet it is stronger than LOD/ADD.

Has anyone ordered/tried the Motorworx brackets?

I'm just doing "eyeball" stress analysis and just from one picture. My concern with wanting to re-enforce the front end would be to address if someone tries to pick up the front, so upward load.

Right, or if you drop when backing or slipping off a ledge, which happens to me often enough to remember a few,

I've been recommending Metal Tech. I hadn't seen the Motorworx offering before, looks decent too, it's obvious who they were inspired by...

Or Lobo if money is no object.
Have you had any run-ins with their winch mount? I'm looking at MT, or possible JCR, but leaning towards the MT. I do like the extra protection the TFFR provides, but dang, I'm not far away from new bumper pricing if I get both of those!

If anyone has the MT winch mount installed, pics please, seems Google ain't finding crap (outside the MT images)

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I’ve been meaning to find this thread to update on the metal tech install and how well they did when being used frequently on the rubicon after the axle shaft break.

That’s all I have to say at the moment.

Hurry, or message me, I'm ready to order something and get a winch installed. :)

Otay. Metal Tech frame horn reinforcement. Quick review-

They work. When our axle shaft broke on the rubicon we were needing winched or pull aaaaalllloooooottttt. The bumper no longer flexes precariously when the OEM tow points are being used. Looked solid as hell.

As for the installation-some minor trimming will be needed. Not a huge deal but it’s part of it. If you don’t have a body lift you will absolutely thank yourself for buying a set of ratcheting open end wrenches. If you don’t, you’ll be thinking “gahdang if I had some ratcheting open end wrenches this would be so much easier. Do I really need these bolts? They’re not even that big. Just stupid and…okay we need them. Fahk.”

Pretty straightforward besides that.
