Yeah they don't make any hitches that attach to the stronger outside frame...just that crossmember.

I actually just replaced my OEM factory hitch with a heavier duty draw tite.

People can give me crap all they want, But when you look at the gauge of metal used for the factory, and how it was welded together... And then compare that to the aftermarket draw tite....there is no comparison.

The only downside was aftermarkets don't have the bracket to hold the factory plugs so I had to get a little creative.

For some clarification. I’m disabled and my wheelchair lift is 100 lbs alone and my chair is approximately 300 lbs which exceeds the the limit on the tounge weight on the hitch. I need a more robust hitch due to this. the hitch can hold it up for sure but while traveling there is going to be alot more force transferred through the hitch than the the cross member will hold. Thanks for any and all input

You can always add a strap from the carrier to the top of the spare tire to distribute the load some..... just a suggestion.

That's a tough one. I suppose if you were to remove your spare tire you could mount the carrier that much closer to the rear bumper, which would reduce the amount of torque on the hitch, but that's still a lot of weight just hanging there...

That isn't a horrible idea. Combine it with a steel bumper with a spare tire carrier like the JCR Vanguard and you'll have something that can probably carry two or three of your chair mounts. It may take a bit of fabrication and imagination, but it seems doable, and easier than finding a frame mounted hitch.
