Do you think you could bend that to more closely match the downward angle of the front bumper? Instead of having it drop straight down.I got this Mabett bracket for 31 bucks on Amazon. You can unbolt the plate holder part for trails. Works well. I used to have it bolted to the shackle, as you can see in my profile pic. This is a much better solution. And, no drilling.

There was a guy from Florida on here that was selling no drill plate holders. It hangs over the lip of the bumper and uses screws to clamp down. I'm not sure he is still selling them though, and I forgot his tag name, it started with HD.
Carry the extra inside, if pulled over say you took it off because you were just off-roading. Worked for me recently (TX DPS warning).

Funny, that's exactly what I told the DPS trooper. He wasn't quite buying it initially, but I had proof and showed it too him (hidden falls adventure park pass dated that day), that was the end of that discussion. Got a warning.
