Well, wife got pulled over for no front plate.

I have a no drill plate holder was just hoping to not have to use it.

I'm glad my local PD are focused on the important issues.

What if you are from a state that does not require a front plate and travel through a state that does? Can they pull you over?

Cops can pull u over for any reason they can come up with, or invent. But no you won’t get a ticket for no front plate if ur from a state that doesn’t require one.

I live in Nebraska, a two plate state but they recently exempted some vehicles, including Jeep and Bronco. You pay an extra $50 and put a sticker that a cop would never see anyway in the front corner of the windshield. I took mine off months ago, keep waiting to get pulled over but so far hasn't happened.

Likely most patrol officers know what states don't normally require a front plate, nearest to us is Kansas., and know not to bother them. I am hoping (assuming anyway) if they got behind me and ran my rear tag it shows I purchased the exempt sticker and they wouldn't bother me.

In California you are required to have a front license plate unless you are visiting from a state that does not require a front plate. Other state laws may vary. I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. I also have a no drill plate holder and put it on once someone else told me they got pulled over for no plate.

Ford Bronco Front plate 20241118_175413

Here in AZ, only back license plate is required. The out-of-state dealership I purchased my Bronco Raptor from didn't remove the front plate bracket, so I pulled that horrible eye-sore off as soon as the delivery truck paused long enough for me to grab my tools... it was a PITA to remove...😡😡😡👎👎👎

There was a guy from Florida on here that was selling no drill plate holders. It hangs over the lip of the bumper and uses screws to clamp down. I'm not sure he is still selling them though, and I forgot his tag name, it started with HD.

Sorry I misread your post. In Texas they will pull you over just to see if your transporting something illegal from down south. They will typically let you go without a ticket after seeing the out of state plate in the back, and talking to you.

Utah used to be a two-plate state, but it was rarely enforced. In a rare feat of progress, effective this year, the front plate is no longer required. So now I'm legal. 😄 I don't have a problem with the front plate per se, it's the idea of making holes in the bumper that annoys me. And that's not just a Bronco thing, I have/had other vehicles that would require permanent disfigurement to accommodate a front plate.

Granger Ford in Iowa knows how divisive the front plate issue is with customers, so they let their out-of-state customers request not to have the front plate installed. 🙂

Virginia does require a front plate, however I don’t run with one. Typically here police will not stop you for a missing front plate alone, but they will ticket you for it if they pull you over for a different violation. I’ve never been stopped anywhere. I suspect your wife just found a very bored cop.

I did briefly attach the front with strong magnets…. but no longer. Just didn’t like the look.

I've never had any specific issue with front plates, other than that OEMs love to mount them directly to painted surfaces with self-tapping screws, guaranteeing ugly holes if ever removed.
I use one mounted to the winch fairlead. Plenty of good mounts out there for all bumpers, no reason to give the police an excuse. I do feel like I stick out when I go to nearby one-plate states, though.

Just recently, I was pulled over for no front plate in my Bronco and then a few weeks later my girlfriend was pulled over for no front plate in my F-150 (in TX both times). Warning both times... I will get the platea on them eventually.

NY requires 2 plates and if you don’t have one installed in NYC and are parked in a public location you WILL get a ticket. 🤦
