Look, IMO the problem with EV's is battery storage is not anywhere where it needs to be right now. A hell of a lot of people are working on that right now. But you won't see a majority change until battery technology is cheaper than other fuel storage options and can recharge in the same time it takes to fill you vehicle with fuel.
But this is where humans shine, innovation happens based on needs and desire, so there's no doubt in my mind that we will get there, it's just not going to happen tomorrow.
Or if Ayn Rand is right, will get motor that works off of static electricity.
