GM Says Gas-Powered Ford Bronco Rival Isn’t Going to Happen

GM President Mark Reuss wouldn’t rule out an electric 4×4, though.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/gm-president-says-ice-powered-ford-bronco-rival-still-isnt-happening

"I'm not gonna do a Bronco," Reuss told The Drive, speaking during an interview at the 24 Hours of Daytona. At least, not one powered by an internal combustion engine. There are a few reasons for that.
The first is simple. Reuss explained that he doesn't want to be "late to the party." Doing a Bronco competitor now would put the brand plumb last in bringing a two-row, body-on-frame 4x4 to the market."
Reuss did not deny the possibility of GM making an electric vehicle like the Bronco in the future, however. When I asked if he was against building such a 4x4 with battery power, he replied, "I didn't say that."
I posted another thread earlier in which GM previewed such a possible EV competitor to the Bronco:

If a gas powered “Bronco rival” is out - than just admit that any Bronco rival is out. Because there is no EV that can rival a Bronco.

City slickers would buy it. Nobody else.

would be neat to see a K5 revival done the same way as Bronco, minus the launch disaster

Reality is something like the Chevy Colorado ZR2 will do most things the Bronco or Wrangler can do. No removable top or doors but better cargo and towing. Given a fairly limited market it probably doesn't make financial sense for GM. Different story if GM had made the new Blazer a real off roader years before Ford. Then Ford may not have been motivated to make the 6G Bronco. Just can't see an EV working though. No charging stations where many with Bronco / Wranglers go. Would require careful planning to keep from running out of juice.

Some people might blow a head gasket.
Luckily, the EV version won't have to worry about that 😉

The ability to do “most” things the bronco or wrangler can do could be the difference between sleeping in the cab of your tiny pickup in the woods vs sleeping in your bed with your bronco/wrangler safe and sound in the garage.

stuff like this cracks me up. I give no cares of anybody's sexual preference, but to think these corporations are pro-anything other than pro-profits is hilarious. they do this because it stirs up pride in the LGBTQ community and makes them want to buy a Ford (or insert brand Here).
Sure does - it also quickly weeds out the people too offended by a rainbow to buy a truck ;)
They might take a dip in sales from a certain market, and gain some in another market due to their marketing materials.

HOWEVER - I'll keep it politics free and make no further comment... other than they look fabulous. ;)

Just put some spare 5 gallon equivalent EV battery's on your saddles instead of gas tanks.... solutions baby 🤣🤣🤣
