We had a good 12" of snow dropped on us earlier this week... Then it turned mild and it was a wet mess.
Backing outta my parking spot, I just spun unless I was in 4H. Unlocked...
So while backing out, I turned the wheel to head out (basically a J-turn) and the drive line definitely bound up! Hit 2H when I stopped and I could feel the suspension settle.
EEK!
I'm guessing while turning the front wheels were traveling farther than the rear wheels??

Yeah you can’t cut the wheel when you’re in 4 high.
Unless you are on a low friction surface. Have to have able to allow slippage.

If it is winter up there in Canadia why not just keep it in 4A all the time? I am down here in TX and I run all my Fords in 4A year round.

I tried 4A at first and it was struggling. I could of maybe turned off TV which might of helped. I didn't wanna tear-ass outta the snow pile but just crawl 🤷

Canadians are a bit different... Lol
On the roads, it's 2H all day long until it gets super sketch. 4A is only gonna help with drive traction anyway.
Around town, tight corners, on snow covered streets, yeah, 4A...especially with the 2 door. It really likes to come around on you! 😂

Any four wheel drive train generally hates turning the front wheels to their limits. The front wheels are happier straight, for sure.

Some of ya'll have never owned a 4x4 before and it shows 😂
Especially not a solid front axle vehicle. My Excursion will hop and buck on glare ice in a sharp turn.

usually best to be in 2h or even 4A in these situations that you have to cut the wheel hard. driving isnt as much of a problem as parking.

Even on a slippery surface it is not a good idea to go to full steering lock forward of reverse.
