The HOSS 3.0 from Ford will set you back $1600 or so, with a $400 core charge. If you buy it from a dealer you can pick it up, there's no shipping cost. Definitely just keep the HD tie rods, you don't need anything beefier. After that it's tools or whatever. Most people will take this route. If you take it to a mechanic, be prepared to pay for 4-6 hours of their time. Also consider getting the bolts, which may add tens of dollars (Ford is proud of their bolts). It'll need to be programmed, too (see below).Admittedly I didn't click any of the links or watch the video, but I did read your tutorial. Any word on cost? I'm considering the upgrade eventually.
The 74Weld stage 3 rack is a different story. Get the OnX Elite discount, I paid $27 to upgrade and it saved me $400. After shipping and tax, I paid about $5700 for their rack, and it's all ready to go. The bolts, if you want to replace those, that's a little extra. You don't need a 3.0 rack, it comes with one. 74Weld's are already programmed. You just have to pay for shipping and install it.
If you have a 3.0 rack, you can get the cheaper Stage 2 rack and have it installed and programmed. I would expect installing it to be $300-500 maybe (totally guessing based on hours?), and programming maybe $300 (you have to have FRDS, which is a cost too). If you have the rack already, this is a reasonable add-on if you want the bomb proof rack option. Note on this one, if the 3.0 rack is on your Bronco, you'll need to remove it to install it into the stage 2 housing.
For me the cheapest thing was to go ahead and buy the 74Weld stage 3 rack. Otherwise, you can just get the HOSS 3.0 rack, return the core and have a fairly reasonable cost once you include getting it programmed.
