I might get flamed for this, but after shopping around for name brand lights, then Amazon lights, and finally Harbor Freight lighting, I decided, that for the money, HF was the way to go. For a pair of 3 inch cubes, and a really nice wiring harness is was only 70 bucks after coupons. The lights are very solid and with the waterproof harness, install only took 20 mins.

What bolt did you use to mount it?

I admittedly stupidly just reused the bronco bolt that was already in that mounting location with a lock washer.

I used the same bolt with my SS3s, but I did stop buying cheap LEDs awhile ago.

It was usually not the inflated lumen ratings or the light itself that I had issues with, it was the rusting non-stainless hardware and flaking "powder" coatings.

I wouldn't flame anyone for using them, though. Cheap LEDs are great for figuring out your lighting patterns and then replacing them later with more powerful ones you find on sale..

I'll Have to watch for those issues with the powdercoat and hardware for sure, but at first glance, and after install the HF lights seem to be heavier, brighter, and have better paint jobs/hardware than some of the rigid and other name brand ones I compared them to. If they do rust/chip I'll replace them with fancier ones!

Do you have aux switches or did you use a controller to activate these lights?

I had mine mounted directly on the cowl like you, but found that this bracket pushed them just a little outboard and up.

Isn't that what the bolt was for?

I've had my HF lights on for only a few months and the housing paint is already seeming to dull. Now keep in mind I bought mine a couple years ago and they sat as I "patiently" waited for my Bronco. Maybe they use a better paint than they did back then.

The lights work great though!
