I noticed the rear passenger latch over time kept opening on its own on my 23 OBX with 31k miles. I brought it to the dealer where I purchased it used from for them to take a look. The dealer said they couldn't get it to duplicate the issue but they took the top off, reinstalled, and tightened all latches. Not only did they not fix the problem now four latches do the same thing and they ripped a portion of the rubber seal on the driver side. I called and spoke with the service manager and they said " You need to take it up with Ford." Has anyone else had this issue with the latches? If so what was the fix? I only have 5k miles left on my bumper to bumper warranty and fear I'm about to be stuck with the issue. Any advice on what to do will be appreciated.

Like mentioned above the loose latches is common unfortunately. I had one do it but for me I took it off and reinstalled it and it hasn't been an issue since.

Also, the dipstick of a Service Manager needs to understand he IS Ford when it comes to warranty issues.

If you have another Ford dealer around you, I would take it to them as they should be able to make adjustments to see if they can take care of it for you.

Thanks for the tip, but all I see is a bunch of me too posts on the topic with no solutions. I'm looking for someone that has found a solution.

This happened to me once when putting my front panels on. It might not be ripped off, it could be tucked under itself. I popped off the panel, straightened the weather stripping out and had to be careful of the angle I used when I put the driver side back on.

This is interesting as I have the same thing happening on the driver side. For some reason latching the driver side seems to pull the weather strip away from the windshield frame. Passenger side is opposite - latching actually pushes/helps seat the weather strip into the “correct” or “ideal” position.
I have tried to manipulate the weather strip while latching the driver side to minimize deforming and pulling the stripping away from the frame.
I’ve been thinking about finding an adhesive to DIY a solution…

I had the same issue as far as the weather stripping. The mechanic put the top back on and the stripping wasn’t aligned. So I took the top off and aligned it myself.
