It’s the exact same top, the difference is that they are going to put back the 30% of polyurethane that was stripped from the original MIC top to save on plastic die too the world plastic shortage.

I don't have any specifics at the moment. No date for launch. How'd these ones turn out? Are the initial ones they've produced been any good?
So just test runs at this point? Makes sense given previously stated timing.I don't have any specifics at the moment. No date for launch.
You don't actually believe this troll do you? Lol. Oh brother...How'd these ones turn out? Are the initial ones they've produced been any good?
Believe what you want. I ain't trolling. You don't actually believe this troll do you? Lol. Oh brother...
I tend to believe you. Is your source still the Webasto employee?I don't have any specifics at the moment. No date for launch.
Hard to know who to believe here. Many act like they know more than Ford themselves. The only person I know for sure that has reliable info is @PREMiERdrum .You don't actually believe this troll do you? Lol. Oh brother...
So...when did "optimistic" become the new term for "stupid"? lolExactly... An awful lot of optimistic people on here thinking ford is already testing a new top. It's been 1 week since Ford's announcement that it'll take 8 weeks before 2.0 is ready for production.
Put another way, if you don't currently have a VIN, YOU'RE STILL GOING TO BE A MY22!
Personally, I'm just looking forward to the new B&P
I know the new top isn't revolutionizing anything. And it won't be here anytime soon.
When did they say 8 weeks? In any case, why is it so hard to believe they'd be producing test roofs at this point? Do you think they're going to start testing them AFTER the dyes are all changed and things start running down the line?Exactly... An awful lot of optimistic people on here thinking ford is already testing a new top. It's been 1 week since Ford's announcement that it'll take 8 weeks before 2.0 is ready for production.

More bread, less filling: bad for sammiches, good for carboard hardtops. It could just be the outer layer that's thicker, and the honeycomb is thinner in which they could reuse a lot of the tooling and jigs. Or slight modifications. Think of it as a sandwich and the top slice is thicker, the filling thinner but the overall height the same.
One thing we can expect is a slight increase in weight.
That's called a wish sandwich. Where you have two slices of bread and you wish you had some meat.....More bread, less filling: bad for sammiches, good for carboard hardtops.
Aren't we talking about two different MIC production plants? What does "ready" mean, the tooling wont arrive until the end of September?
Isn't the "new" plant the second Webasto plant?Aren't we talking about two different MIC production plants?
- original Webasto plant with updated tooling
- new plant owned by somebody (??) with all new equipment
Sounds like there are some revised tops coming out of the original Webasto plant, plus the 'new' plant gets production equipment installed in September
