Hello, I did try to search and cant find out how to reset the wrench light? I tried with my pro cal. Didnt work. I unhooked the battery for a min and that didnt do it. Everything works great. 4H/4L etc. Then it has a "check 4x4" message every time I start it. Its 2021 2.7 that I bought new and has 63k miles. Never ever had an issue. I would appreciate any idea. I really dont want to take it to the dealer! Thanks in advance!!!

Wrench light means there’s a problem. So you probably wont be able to clear it until it’s fixed. You’ll need to pull codes and see what it is.

ProCal can only see a handful of the dozens of different computer modules that are in the Bronco.

You need something that can talk to all of the modules, and then read and reset whichever module has the active code (sounds like AWD and/or ABS in this case)

Forscan ~can~ read all the modules and reset them if you have a compatible adapter, but you don't necessarily need Forscan for that. Lots of scanners can do it with their provided software as well.

OBDLink comes highly recommended. There is a wired USB version, and a more expensive Bluetooth version. The wired is better if you are doing heavy duty module programming, the wireless is nice as it can run dashboards and stuff on your phone while driving. Either will work for what we are talking about here though.

There are less expensive adapters but hit or miss with them - would have to default to someone who has experience.

Gotcha. So I would need to still link the obd2 to a laptop and use forscan Im assuming. I was hoping a stand alone handheld unit that I could plug into the obd and clear it that way.

Those do exist. But I don't know which are good and which aren't - would have to wait for more people to chime in. Most are junk, so gotta do some research.

The Bluetooth ODBLink MX uses your phone or a laptop.

I bought this a few years ago. I'm not advanced enough to take advantage of all the features but it will scan for and clear all but permanently set codes that require dealers to reset. This one is Innova's middle of the road scanner and they are a US company but I think readers are physically made in China. Anyway it works great.

Thanks for the reply! Have you ever tried to clear the wrench light with it? I actually just ordered a BlueDriver bluetooth pro from amazon a few hours ago. I should have it in a few hours and hopefully that works. Fingers crossed.

When my Bronco fuel pump died I used this one to read the codes, though I did not actually clear them. But it worked on my '16 Challenger too and cleared codes on that. Its cheap and Bluetooth and seems to work well with my Android phone. At this price and being electronic and from Amazon, I'm sure it is NOT made in the US of A.

Edit: no experience with it, this more expensive but looks to work with Android and iOS. It's got over 23K reviews and 4.5 stars....which is pretty stinking good....because you know there are a bunch of 1-star reviews for reasons that have little to do with the product itself, or it didn't work on their 1965 Impala.

My understanding is that most OBD2 code readers will clear codes but if the problem hasn't been fixed, the code will come right back. You need the reader to find out what components are failing, fix them and then clear it if you can.

True. Sometimes you get codes working on the car, or the battery gets low on voltage, and periodically you get one of those self-fixing codes. On my Challenger the exhaust flapper thing got stuck after sitting for a while throwing a code. With some runtime, it fixed itself!
