If you've been looking at the "High" or "Lux" package and noticed that there is one item it comes with that the lower trim levels dont, then this is that info for you.
What it is, is the ability to scale apps and programs so that they don't stretch across the entire screen of the 12" display and distort badly. In the image below (from Ford's youtube video), the IDP is literally the ~2" wide bar on the right that has the phone call info, time and temp.
That feature is not necessary on the smaller screen as the aspect ratio is standard for mobile apps and navigation, but the larger screen does this to avoid conflicts with native resolution for displayed content.
Does it need it's own acronym? Sure, somebody will buy it for that (not knowing what it does).
Source video for screen display. Note they don't discuss the IDP in this video.
