Just noticed my soft top side window has a big tear in it.

I just noticed my side window seems very brittle and there's a big tear in it. Nothing hit it and there is no mark. It just looks like either sun or cold caused it to crack.

Anyone else with this problem? Will the dealer cover this? It's still under warranty and I have extended warranty also.

I've seen a few reports of shattering in extreme cold. IMO the right thing to do is cover it but you'll have to see what the dealer says and possibly contact customer service to see if they can intervene if you don't like the answer.

I just lifted the back and the tear is right where the window folds. It's definitely from operation and not from something hitting it

Always a hazard in cold weather. Vinyl windows become brittle.

I get that but I avoid using it during frigid weather. It's in the 40s now, I would think that wouldn't be a problem.

Oh well, I'll add it to the list of recalls and warranty repairs I'm waiting on:

Soft top
Seat cover
Soft top side window

I have money on this happening to a great majority of the soft tops down the road, You open the hatch regularly and because of the the strain it puts on the side windows I think this is going to be a common thing in time. The design is plain stupid.

I live in the northeast. I have a 2021 that has been outside in very cold and freezing weather. Never had a problem.

Wish someone made matching side windows to the top material. Cant see much out of them anyways.

Its a long standing problem in boating, the plastic gets brittle in the cold, and the plastic gets brittle from UV exposure. You can go to a higher quality plastic, thicker, but then, it wont have the give it needs to fold and bend. You have to learn to live with it. Or get a MIC hardtoptop rear cap with glass windows and a Skyrider folding top. I'd find a good marine canvas shop that can keep you in better plastic windows, which are a wear item like tires. Or, have a winter set and a summer set.

Doubt they will cover this since ford doesn’t sell just the side or back windows for the soft top, you have to buy the whole assembly to get it. My plastic broke on the driver side where it locks in by the doors, have tried to repair it without any luck.

I live in NJ.

They're already replacing the top wherever that comes in. They were only replacing the top so I don't know why the sides wouldn't be available separately? They have their own part numbers.

I'll see this week.

This. It isn't going to be a matter of if these windows will crack and fail, but when.
