I really enjoyed the story. I am going to be honest, I started reading this thinking it was a setup for a build and price joke, but was happily surprised with the actual content. I have a pocket knife that my grandfather gave me that I lost in my house for ten years and the n the day I had to go to my aunts (his daughter) funeral I found it tucked in a corner like an old friend waiting for the right time to present itself. I get the same vibe from this story. Thanks for sharing.

You will always keep that pocket knife and I will always cherish that watch.
The memories and associations are the only things that give material things their true value.

Absolutely! I think about it a lot and it sucks because it freaks me out a bit because I love the ocean and I love to snorkel and scuba. Excuse my last post, I meant to say we were snorkeling, not scuba.

I edited my post after I commented! Your story is remarkable as well and much better told. I can relate and it’s just a surreal experience, mine not nearly as long or traumatic as yours though.
