Do you have issues where the unit always stays on after you power off the Bronco? I am reading that on another thread.

The button at the top is to detach the detector from the mount. Yes the radar will stay on for a period of time after you shut the car off. You can just turn the power off on the power button on the radar .

Look up blendmount and wiretap. Same site. Mounts detector to rear view mirror stem. The wiretap Taps into dimming mirror power. Very clean looking. Been using them in vehicles for years. Currently using it in wife’s bronco w escort max 360c.

My buddy on highway patrol in AZ told me he looked specifically for the suction cut mounts, those people who were right on the edge got stopped. They present a large visual profile that is easy to spot. Sure, it could be a phone mount or GPS, but once they were stopped they were already under additional scrutiny. I’m using the suction cup in my new work truck because I haven’t hardwired it yet.

Not dismissing your point because I am sure it is valid. My thinking goes this way….Unless it is a LEO doing an “instant on” with the radar gun, I get 2+ mile warning. If he does do an instant on and I am speeding materially over the limit, the suction cup mount or mirror tap won’t make a difference. I had this for R3 for 3 years when I drove a Nissan GTR. That car would get their attention long before any suction cup mount.

Thank-you so much for the info and the picture. I just ordered the R4 and going to try to with the included dual suction mount because it is smaller and hopefully that is enough to hold it. I did not even realize that any states had outlawed them, but this info has been great.

You simply google blendmount. Wiretap is sold by blendmount as previously stated.

Would anyone have access to the mirror wiring pinout for installation of the wiretap from Blendmount?

the one stickerfab sells (jmatek) is absolutely trash. mine lasted 3 months until it burnt up. I use a blendmount, with the dongar usb mirror mirror tap (from stickerfab)harness and this power adapter for my escort maxcam360c & it's been great.

Ford Bronco List of radar detectors that work off USB power? 1711169326160-2v

Hey Guys,

I have been using radar detectors all of my life and they have saved me so many times it is ridiculous. I am leaning towards keeping it above the dash instead of up near the rearview mirror cluster. If I do that, I want one that plugs into the dash usb for power and understand some Uniden/Valentine/Escort can do that, and others have issues. Just thinking it might be easier to connect/disconnect/lock in console when needed and not block as much view as I am tall.

I am leaning toward buying this - https://www.stickerfab.com/en-jp/co...ne-uniden-radar-detector-power-cord-universal

It sounds like this works with some, but not all Uniden/Valentine/Escorts. I want to go through each of those radar detectors and figure out which one is best and can also do a great job filtering out false positives.

Thanks,

Dan

If you need power from the mirror, use this plug-and-play harness. Plugs right into the wire harness on the back of the mirror, e-z-p-z. No wire taps or splicing or fuse taps needed. 5 minute install:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088P4VFQ7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then pair it with this USB to RJ11 adapter from sticker fab:
https://www.stickerfab.com/en-jp/co...ne-uniden-radar-detector-power-cord-universal

I use this combo to run my Valentine 1 detector, with a mirror mount adapter.
