MIC Top in White?

Hello All,

So let me say first, the MIC Top is not that bad. Now that that’s out of the way....

I don’t want a painted top, it’s just going to get scratched up or taken off anyway. Is there any news if Ford will offer a white mic top or will it just be a painted?

My guess is painted. It would be nice to have a MIC option though. Worst case, you can Line-X in whichever color you like.

Probably not. A molded in white top would stain, probably permanently, something fierce.

Yes, but the Jeep tops are also white under a black textured paint so when they scratch or chip it really shows. The white on the interior is also textured and holds onto dirt, but I have yet to stain it.

So by that logic those that choose to paint the MIC top white will end up seeing black when it gets scratched. ?‍

That's why I said Line-X and not paint.

The top of my Blazer does fine in white.

Coming from a supplier of automotive plastics to OEMs, you will never see a MIC white top for several reasons.

Indeed, but that's a fiber-glass top with gel-coat. Wonder if gel-coat would bond with the MIC plastic. That would be a plan, that or other marine grade paints for boat bottoms.

My guess is that Ford found that you can't get a good black or white out of the plastic molding process and so, we get gray. Can probably do other colors, but plastic is not body paint and it's just never going to match exactly. Still would'nt hurt to have a camel, blue or other option.
