Got the 74Weld Stage 1 kit installed along with the Icon XD Tie Rods. Took about 5 hours and I also got an alignment done.

The stock steering rack end cap is kind of laughable next to the 74Weld. It's so thin that after seeing it, I am glad I upgraded it. The Icon Tie Rods are a lot beefier than the stock tie rods.

I have an off-road and camping trip planned for tomorrow and Friday so this will be a nice test of the new mods.

Looks great. Does the 74 stage one provide more than the Ford Performance steering rack? Both are around 1k and ford rack has upgraded tie rods. Just trying to decide. I already have the procal to program the Ford rack.
I can't really answer that as I don't know.

Call 74Weld as they are very helpful and I highly doubt they are going to give you bad answers just to make a sale.

You don't need to reprogram with the 74Weld Stage 1 Kit.

You get the FP tie rods that come with the original rack. 74Weld buys the HD rack by the pallet, and it comes with the tie rods, then swaps the housing and programs. You can also buy the Icons from them, but I just kept the FP ones.

@raqball Great work on your 2DR. I'm really curious about the 74Weld steering cap and bushing upgrade. Is this something you plan to install yourself? I already have the tie rods...

Install images are a few up in post #32..

I'll be offline for a few days as I am heading out now for a 2-day, one-night camping and off-road trip.

Thanks @raqball I consider myself to be an above average home mechanic. Did you run into any unforeseen issues with the install?

The hardest part was getting the bushings out of the stock rack so they could be reused on the 74Weld.

Another PIA was getting the pinion bushing and snap ring on.

If you are above average home mechanic (I am not) then I'd bet you could do it in about 3 hours or so..
