I still regret pulling up to the entrance of Hells Gate and chickening out. Which considering at the time I had no off-road experience was probably the right call.

I am going to be there in a week and a half, my first time in Moab also, do you have any lessons learned or do’s and don’ts from your first trip to Moab?

Go with, or follow someone who has been there before and knows the area and trails, and knows how to spot safely.
I was with a large group of veteran Moab'ers that knew all the trails and where to go and were some of the best spotters you could ask for.
It made my 1st trip to Moab extremely easy and enjoyable.
Maybe also have a gps trail app for your phone or iPad.
Don't forget to fill up with fuel for each day of trail driving.
And lastly.... have fun, enjoy your trip, Moab is an absolutely incredible place!

That looks like an awesome trip. How long were you out there and how much fuel did you burn? Did you carry your own? Did you camp or is there a place to stay?

Your last pic in particular (fins in the foregroun, LaSal’s in the background) captures the depth and impact of the geography better than any I took. Good job!

We were there for 4 days, we were scheduled to stay for 5 days but with an incoming snow storm we decided to leave a day early so we didn't have to drive home thru snow and high winds.
While wheelin' in the Bronco, I burned on average about a half a tank of fuel per day, one day I burned 3/4 of a tank because we drove on Dome Plateau trail which was a 31 mile trail plus the milage to the trail head and back to the motel in Moab.
My Bronco has 37" tires and is geared with 4.88's.
I carried an extra 3 gallon rotopax can of fuel on the tailgate of my Bronco, although I never needed to use it myself, another person did need fuel on the trail so I gave my fuel to him.
Our group stayed at the Big Horn Lodge in Moab, it's a nice motel.
There are many motels in Moab to stay at to choose from.
My home is in north Texas (DFW area), the drive to Moab was 1018 miles, when we hit Lubbock there were high winds and it started snowing all the way to just past the New Mexico border (that wasn't much fun), driving my F-250 super duty hauling my Bronco on my trailer we drove to Cortez, Colorado and stayed the night at a Holliday Inn Express motel (which made me smarter for the next day:wink:), then the next day we drove the final 1.5 hours into Moab to the motel, unloaded and were wheelin' by noon.
Our first trail we did was Fins and Things.
For the drive home we decided to drive straight thru and not stop anywhere overnight, we had great weather for the drive home, it was a 16 hour 45 minute drive home for me.
Moab is an awesome place! I'm going back there for sure!

Thanks!, I appreciate that.
I thought that was one of my best pics I took.
Our group stopped on the side of the gravel road and had lunch at that overlook spot on our way to drive the Schaffer Basin trail.
What a view to stare at while eating lunch! 😮🇺🇸
At that overlook spot, the the wind was howling and it was COLD!🥶

Great pictures and videos! It really doesn't get any better than Moab for offroading.

I honestly don't remember the company's name I got the grille from, that was one of my first mods I did.
I do remember that I did not get it from a big named company, I think I got it off eBay, sorry man I just can't remember.
What I do remember, it was a PITA to install, especially since I have the front camera.
I believe it was $450, which included the grille, the FORD letters (which I had to screw into place)
& the three center amber marker lights (which were already assembled to the grille, just had to route the wiring and connect to fuse box & ground) & it did not come with the inner panel that the grille mounts to, then that assembly mounts to the Bronco, I had to reuse the OEM inner panel, and if you have the front camera on your Bronco, that inner panel has to be cut so it fits snugly into position, I literally had to cut 2/3 off the bottom of that inner panel for everything to fit correctly, all because of that front camera.
Like I said, I was a PITA to install, but I got it done!:)

HAHA!! I have read that some of those first time raptor grille mods were a PITA to install. From what I can tell now, it looks like some of those fit right in place now. You have the OG raptor-like grille and it still looks the best! Thanks for the advice on this. Happy Trails!

A couple more.

The blue 84 Bronco was having power steering pump issues, but he was well prepared, he had a supply of power steering fluid with him, and added more fluid after he got help to the top of that obstacle.
He didn't need anymore help after that obstacle.

This is in one of the uranium mine caves we explored while on the Dome Plateau Trail.
Roger was our tail gunner of the group for every trail we ran each day.
He's a veteran Moaber, and he bought this geiger counter off Amazon (I think) specifically for this trip because he knew we would be visiting the old uranium mines.
I started calling him Mr. Uranium after this.
