Hi, how do we know the new hitchmount pods from the old ones?
i currently run c1rs, and was the person that discovered and complained that the original running and brake lights were underperforming.
are the running and brake light the same brightness?

Thank you

Yes, that has been my experience as well. Great mod/product though, and I’m not even sure the reverse light needed to be brighter, it’s good for me as-is.

The light itself may be great, and I would love to be able to use it, but the harness on the previous version would not work on my ‘25 HE powder coated rear bumper with Ford tow receiver. There was nowhere to secure the harness where it wouldn’t rub a nut or hang exposed right behind the muffler. Had to return it.

So nowhere to tie it to, to secure it? That sucks. I have a Bronc Raptor and wonder if this would work with it. I love products/mods with plug and play designs that don't force me to head to community college to get a vocational degree in engineering....

I was pretty excited about it and bummed it didn’t work. DD refunded me and I’m thinking of getting the spare tire mount reverse light kit and just painting it white to blend with the wheel better.

The problem is the part circled in yellow won’t fit inside the Ford receiver housing, and that’s as far as it will stick out with the wiring length. If I secured it upward as far as it will flex, it would rub the nut with the red arrow. Plus the original factory harness would be hanging behind the muffler and would be exposed to direct heat. I thought about wrapping it in heat tape but it would still be visible from behind and look cheesy.

Edit: I should add that if you have a different rear bumper or different kind of receiver, it’s possible this might not be a problem. It’s just this bumper and the Ford tow kit that didn’t work.

Need to offer a trade in or free upgrade option like Baja did on the SAE fog lights when then upgraded the technology.

I just installed mine over the weekend. I ditched the harness it came with and used a t-tap on the stock hitch wire. It fits up in there much better than trying to shove all that stuff in.

I’ve got some magnetic zip tie holders on the way to secure the wire better up behind the hitch…

do not get this crap then... mine needs an additional cable routed to the break light. I get an error message during the day when rear lights are off, the truck thinks I am pulling a trailer. At night when rear lights are on, it's fine. I got in touch with customer service and all they could do is send me a link to a YouTube video on how to fix it, but I need to figure out what wire I should tap into and then route a cable. The reverse light is bright and the 4th break is nice tho

Thanks for your feedback and for being an early adopter of the product! The original C1R is still a strong performer—we’ve shipped thousands with excellent results. That said, our engineering team saw an opportunity to enhance output and reopened the project to optimize brightness. The new version improves performance, particularly in the reverse light function, while maintaining the same fit and form.

Thanks for sharing your experience—it’s definitely a tight space on some Bronco configurations. While the product remains safe and functional when installed properly, we understand fitment challenges can arise depending on bumper/tow setups. We're glad our customer service team was able to take care of your return.

Here’s a quick install video in case it’s helpful for others considering fitment:

Need to offer a trade in or free upgrade option like Baja did on the SAE fog lights when then upgraded the technology.
Great question. The original HitchMount C1R still exceeds performance expectations and compliance standards. The update was not due to a fault or recall—just an opportunity to push brightness even further. In Baja’s case, the SAE fog light update addressed a beam compliance issue. Different situation, different product.

But what if you need to use your hitch?
Good question! If you need to use your hitch, the HitchMount can be easily removed—just unplug it, cap the DT connector, and you’re ready to tow. When you’re done, it snaps right back into place for lighting duty again.

I ran a wire from battery and that did not fix the problem. It still thinks I am hooked to a trailer. Turns off sensors

Man, I just bought mine a few months ago and now want the brighter one lol. Mine works flawless, and I've never had any issues with it. I also don't get any message where my Raptor thinks its hooked to a trailer.

I’ve got the original and the two on the spare tire. If you come up with a trade-in or upgrade path, I’d do that.
