I hope the issue is ignorance on my part, I have started using remote start this winter. First winter with the Bronco.
the heat does not turn on. I get into a cold vehicle each time.
I have the settings in climate to use last setting. The heat is turned on for the vents and seats before I turn it off the day before.

I use the fob to remote start, give it 5 minutes and get in. The engine temp has 1-2 bars so the engine is warm. But no fans are blowing nor the seats warm.
Once I press the break and start button everything kicks on.
I don’t care that the seats don’t turn on since they warm up fast but I’d like the ice on the windshield melted and the air in the cabin warm.
What am I doing wrong or what’s potentially broken?

May just be a software issue with the APIM or another module. Doesn’t sound like it’s anything you’re doing wrong. Mine is set to last setting also and turns on when remote started.

Is the apim something I can reboot, so to speak? Can I unplug it from the harness and let it reset and plug it back in?
If so do you have a schematic on where it’s at?

No it’s not easy to get to at all unfortunately.
You can try disconnecting your battery or even pulling the APIM fuse. I have no idea if that will fix anything though.

5 minutes is usually a little on the short end for a lot of warmup activity in a snow and ice remote start scenario (not that you get that a lot where you are).

Could be a temp sensor threshold needs to hit before the defroster kicks on. Have you let it run longer to see how it responds to more time?

Source: live in Alaska and remote start for about 5 months out of the year

Mine is the same. I autostart w/app and fob. When I get in clearly there is some heat, but the fans, seat heat, controls (defrost/dash front/floor) are not as I left them. Hit the start button and fans/seats come on, but need to reset controls. Temp stays where it was. Never had a vehicle that didn't autostart with controls where you left them.
Just thought it was a Ford F@#k Up...

I’m in Central FL so we see 20’s to 30’s for our overnight lows for about 40 days per year. Ice on 3 or 4 mornings. Nothing that 5 minutes can’t warm the engine.
Tonight we should be in the upper 20’s I’ll try a 10 minute warmup tomorrow just to see what happens.

This is my first car to have this feature, yours sounds like what I’m experiencing. My friend said his is blowing hot when it’s cold and blowing cold when it’s hot outside and works great. He has lux/high package, I have mid package.

I might give this a shot.
I looked up the Apim and it appears to need programming when replaced so it’s not a user replaceable item unfortunately. I hate not fixing things myself.

I set my settings for auto temp. If it’s cold, my heat and seat heat kick on with remote start. And just the opposite when it’s hot. My system seems to work as designed.

I remote start every morning (Garaged, after opening door) Prolly 5 minutes. I find that the air is blowing, but no heat or steering wheel heat is on.
This last week has been 7-20 degrees F outside, 40 ish in garage.
This is the Lux full auto AC.
Gettin in, the air initially feels warm, but not WARM. I hit the start button, and all comes on full blast if left that way. It always reverts to last settings used as I turned off. Heat, seat, etc..
defrost and rear defrost seems dependent on external temps. Then, as I roll out, evens out as I would expect a full auto AC to act.
I then adjust as needed, and system reacts accordingly.

If you still have warranty, I would just bring it in. Should be easy to duplicate for the dealer. Let them worry about fixing it.

I don’t use the auto button above the fan speed switch, I’m not sure why it has 3 lights on it and what it even does.
I read that it works with your phone to lower the fan speed when on a phone call. No idea what it does or how it works. Having no owners manual sucks. The onboard manual has no info about anything in my Bronco. That might be a totally different issue for a later date.

The 3 lights on Auto correspond with how fast you want the fan to blow on the Auto setting. One light equals slow fan speed, three lights will use high fan speeds until desired temp is reached.
