I put 275/70 KO2s on my outer banks and kept the stock rims. I got a 1" lift so the height would match what I'm used to with my truck. I used to hate the wheels until I got the new tires. Now I like them.

I was looking at doing what you wanted to do as well and I came across a deal I could not say no to for all 5 tires. Dick Cepek trail country EXP 305/70/18. $1000 tax in. They are about .5” taller than Sasquatch tires and same with. I thought I would try them on the factory OBX rims first and I am glad I did! Looks great! I am so happy with the way it looks. I didn’t like the OBX rims at first but it actually looks better than most aftermarket rims with 35’s. I did not put a lift on because it didn’t need it but I did take the crash bars out. I have only 4” space through the garage left. If I added the lift it would have been an additional $750. $200 for 2” lift, $400 install, $100 alignment.
I think it looks great without it!

Those looks good! Looking for ideas for my OBX. Pretty sure I’m going to end up with the accessory fender flares as I want to widen the stance a touch. I’d love to keep the factory wheels but cring at the thought of wheel spacers.

Are lift kits needed to install the 34’s on base models?

As mentioned, no, you do not need a lift for the 34's (33.8, with a 285/75/17)
If I was not lifting, that is definitely the size I would have gone with. I think that anything over that, while it may work, it looks a bit too "stuffed" and depending on width, you may also have rubbing issues.

Southern Girl inspired 275/70/18 upgrade. To be different, I swapped in some Badlands Non-SAS coilovers and went with the Ridge Grapplers.

Looks great. I am looking at Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 in the same size. Will they fit OBX without suspension mods? From this thread, the answer would appear to be yes! (up to 285/75/17), but this is not my area of expertise. Thx. JCG

Yeah - me either but I do think you are correct. As you can see, I have plenty of room and it is the look that I prefer. With that said, I do not think I needed the 1" level or the additional height of the Bilstein's for these tires to fit.

Looks great. Just ordered OBX, and started to look for options for wheels, main idea was to find Badlands set, and replace original wheels ... but this gives me hope :)
Removing crash bars? Does it have to be done, or you did it just tome sure that tire doesn't rub it..?

Here is my OBX with 285 75 r18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers with 18"x9" Method MR 305 NV's with a +18 offset. No lift in the first picture but I did have to remove crash bars. 4" lift in second picture.
