I just rolled over 36k on my Mickey Baja Legend EXPs.
Overall they haven't been a bad tire, but I don't have a lot of M/T (mud terrain, as opposed to Mickey Thompson (MT) - confusing acronyms) tire experience to compare them too.
MT states they are supposedly good for 50k miles. They start at 18/32" tread. I didn't measure them when I had them new, but I have no reason to doubt that.
Today, I'm at about 13/32"
So, for a regular tire, you would look to replace by about 4/32", and the "federal standard" is 2/32" - but these are a different beast. Most tires also have a tread wear strip - once that starts touching the pavement, you should replace.
These MTs have maybe a half dozen different tread wear indicators all over the tire, at various heights. I can't get a good number from anywhere on what the recommended, or minimum, tread wear depth should be - just that they are 18/32 new, and should be good for 50k miles.
If I extrapolate based on just what I'm seeing for wear - I'm guessing around 10/32? What's the conventional wisdom for tire tread on an offroad M/T?
