Took our 21 Badlands to a new local spot today with some co-workers. Invited my buddy (who is also my salesman) to come along since it was his off-day. My Badlands on factory 35’s, a Jeep Rubicon 4XE on small lift and wheels/tires, and a 4Runner with a small lift and tires.
Had a great time and the Bronco performed just as expected—flawlessly.
The Jeep overheated the transmission 10 minutes in. We were able to overcome that issue by modifying his driveline setup (turning off electric and sticking with 4L. The 4Runner did great except for an off-camber cutback between two trees that left a beauty mark on a rear fender.
Here are a few pics and maybe videos if they aren’t too large. If they won’t load, just follow me on TikTok (@northaldad). In one I was using Baja mode on a fire lane and had a hump sneak up on me. Probably would have been smoother if I’d stayed on the throttle but when it snuck up on me I let off.
Used trail turn assist, sway bar disconnect, lockers, and the abundance of cameras during the day. The thing I did learn is that when my Raptor gets here and I sell this one, I won’t be able to do some of these kinds of trails…no way the Raptor will fit.
