But if you are a stranger .... don't touch my shit.... have some boundry... it not yours.... or at the minimum ask first...
Obviously you don't want people to say you over-reacted and are resisting hearing it. Perhaps think of it from the other persons perspective. A buddy of theirs says their son in law is happy to drive an hour to let you see and touch a Bronco in person. To me, that says you are not against him actually looking at and touching it. Hell, you are making a two hour round trip to let him see it. That says you are a pretty cool guy. Nobody is going to think that you are going to make a trip like that and then be mad if he gets up and personal a little with it. Trying to see how sturdy the trail sights are and seeing if the oil cap is reasonable to operate vs one of those multi-release impossible caps might have made a difference to a guy with arthritis buying one or not. Maybe the dealer won't let him under the hood to check, who knows.

being miffed and chalking it up to lessons learned over walking away when folks are looking at your truck is a lot different than obsessing over it after the fact and, quite frankly, looking to the internet for validation on anything has never worked out for anyone in the history of the internet.

The guy was being a dick in my opinion, and I would have probably reacted to the situation with a "don't touch the Bronco bud". Many people these days have no manners, and bad upbringing when it comes to others property. I'm tired of making exceptions for those people, and I don't let them act like dick around me anymore without a rebuke. Life's too damn short to deal with these ignorant asses anymore. Had it been your Father-in-Law, no problem. But someone that you don't know then that's a problem in my book.

Yeah you are overreacting a bit. And yeah some people don't know boundaries. But I'm sure this guy saw this as just a vehicle and nothing more.

Now the thing that would and does piss me off is when someone leans against my vehicle like it's a wall or a fence post. Especially when they have fifty keys hanging off their belt loop. I will say something, albeit politely, to please not lean on the paint.

Overreacted? Maybe, but this person seemed to never learn boundaries. I would never think to mess with anyone’s shit without asking first.

The oil cap thing whatever if it ended there and if he was a "car guy", but then an obvious non-car guy grabbing a piece of the car to see if he can break it F THAT!!! And for those of you who says he's overreacting...you better not touch my sh*t!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I don’t think you are over reacting. The friend of your father-in-law should have asked before touching, period. Not sure why your wife and FIL would accuse you of “over reacting” in the first place. It isn’t like you went off on the idiot that was messing with your truck. Over reacting would have been to yell at the guy or otherwise escalate the situation. If things happened the way you described, then I think you didn’t do anything wrong.

In-laws are often the moronic unclaimed baggage you inherit when you get married.
