Noticed a Bronco Sport pulled off to the side of the road with the hood COMPLETELY open - think Wrangler with the hood resting on the windshield.
I wasn't aware of the Bronco Sport having that feature.. Stopped to offer assistance and it was a nice young lady and her daughter stuck on the side of the road.
The hood latch had apparently failed (vehicle was only a week old), allowing the hood to fly back, smash the shit out of the windshield, which left massive dents all over the hood. Had to be terrifying to be in the vehicle going 45-50 MPH when it happened..
I assisted them off the main road into a smaller neighborhood street and took a quick peak. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary and was able to get the hood to latch the first click to keep it in place. Hood was too dented to get it all the way down, and I wasn't going to mess with it too much as it wasn't my vehicle.
Woman stated the vehicle was approximately 1 week old and the hood had not been opened in that time period. Not sure. They are going to be towed to my local dealership, so I'm curious if I can get the story from them when it's all over.
Both were incredibly happy to be rescued by a full size Bronco!
