I can smell the sweet buttery cast iron from hereI dunno why, but this thread is now making me hungry for some griddle cakes.

It does make you wonder if those Cast iron alternatives ever made it out into the field and how they faired...... I know the werewolfs are steel but I do not think they are cast. At least they do not look like it from the pictures. Also wonder if some of that "investment" might have contributed to a collapse.I can smell the sweet buttery cast iron from here![]()
The decision to resist an opportunity to review his portals and drag him appears pretty good on your part.I can smell the sweet buttery cast iron from here![]()
To be fair, he reached out to see if we had interest in running his portals. Despite all the previous dragging I had I already done. Said that he was confident in how they would hold up, especially compared to the aerospace units, so what better way than to get feedback on what could be improved than someone that’s already looking to rip your product apart? (Paraphrasing)The decision to resist an opportunity to review his portals and drag him appears pretty good on your part.
The WW portals are a cast steel (not sure the metallurgy or anything. High carbon, low porosity. Something like that) and they bolt on to fabricated steel uprights. It does make you wonder if those Cast iron alternatives ever made it out into the field and how they faired...... Interesting because they LOOK machine cut... as opposed to the rough casting surface. The machining may only be on mating surfaces I suppose.... They just looked smooth to me. BUT like I said I have not touched them (or been within a mile of them to my knowledge). The WW portals are a cast steel (not sure the metallurgy or anything. High carbon, low porosity. Certainly nice to know we can weld them if needed, albeit with different methods depending on what needs repaired.
4000 miles on these steel units already and the brakes have fallen off zero times, and we don’t have any leaks. So that’s pretty cool.
I had the same reaction. They are finished quite well.Interesting because they LOOK machine cut... as opposed to the rough casting surface. The machining may only be on mating surfaces I suppose....
