Noticed I'm getting some water inside from the top, middle portion of the rear lift glass...had a look and when I flipped up the window, I noticed a LOT of tension on the defrost wiring. Turns out it was pinched under the plastic trim piece and not routed out the cutout for it.
Definitely could of caused it to break off the glass!

Not sure what caused it but I had to replace my rear window already due to the wiring! I found the wire hanging loose and it looked like all the wires in the glass were burnt up.. On the bright side it took less than 5 days for Ford to get the new window and install it.

Interesting that you posted this. Ours was looked at just yesterday. Our left side came off. We are waiting the shop to get back with us as they check if it is a replacement of window or a repair.
So they replaced your back window? I have a Permatex kit to fit this thing but don nit want to do it while under warranty. Hopefully they call me Monday.

I had a pic of mine...
Not there now 🤷
But just inside the window, the wiring goes into a plastic cover. There is a notch in it for the wire pass thru. Mines wasn't passed thru the opening but pinched under the cover with a LOT of tension on the glass/wire. It surely would of eventually ripped off the glass.

@Cat should it be added to the OCD list, maybe not since there haven't been multiple reports yet?

They did check TSB's and did not find anything.

FYI this was the 2nd dealer I took mine to. 1st said it had to be bodyshop fix. Took it to the 2nd yesterday because they have Ford bodyshop and they are "finding out".

Dealer called. They said Ford has a repair and will let me know when to come in. I asked if they are replacing the window they said no, just a fix of the broken tab.

They did not say but, I suspect they will use the electrical conducting glue that Permatex and a couple other companies make.

Dealer had me come back after a 3 week wait to get repair parts from Ford.
Tirns out what Ford sent to them was the defroster grip repair paint.
But it was the defroster tab that had broken off.
SOOOO the dealer went to AutoZone and bought Permatex defroster tab repair epoxy.
Probably better than replacing the whole rear window.

As someone who dabbles in electronics projects it sure looks to me like it's just soldered in place. Has anyone tried soldering to repair? Conductive adhesive likely wouldn't work as well as something like solder.

I just did mine and you have to be VERY careful with the "pad" you are soldering the connector to. It's very, very thin and comes off the glass easily. Also let the glass cool slowly afterwards. There is also conductive epoxy for this sort of thing on Amazon that may be a good option.
