I didn't know about torx plus until I was installing my new Bartact door bags. I couldn't find a torx driver that fit the screws properly. Then I discovered they were torx plus. I agree they should make all the screws torx or torx plus instead of mixing them.Well, this is good to know. What makes it a PITA is that the fastener design is so similar that most people cannot tell by feel whether they have the correct size of bit. Add to that the lack of general public knowledge of even the existence of torx+ as a standard. If the companies feel the need to use any torx+ fasteners on parts for which the public are likely to require access then make them ALL torx+. That would be difficult however because of the added expense, so, if they must mix the two standards on a vehicle MAKE IT OBVIOUS that two standards are in use and educate the owners and service people.
Sorry for the rant but thank you for the info.
You're right that the general public is unaware of torx plus. And most stores don't carry them. Harbor Freight doesn't have torx plus. I did find a set at O'Reilly Auto, but none of staff know of torx plus and they don't show on their web site.
