3 weeks ago I locked my Bronco in the garage with a battery tender hooked up to the negative cable on the distal side of the little box that attaches to the battery post clamp as I was instructed to do here. Today I get an urgent message from the Ford app telling me to manually start the vehicle and that my remote features have been disabeled to save battery power.
What is the proper way to store the vehicle? And what do I need to do now? This is ridiculous, does this happen due to time between starts regardless of battery state of charge? Now there's a message box in the middle of my phone screen that i can't get rid of.

Did you look at the tender to see what it’s saying the state of charge is? Did you verify that it was actually charging the battery after you hooked it up? I don’t receive messages with my tender hooked up.

No, I'd have to call a neighbor and ask him to check it. Since you haven't had a problem I'll do that. Where do you connect the negative charger lead?

If it was hooked up properly when you left, it shouldn't have been an issue. I would suggest having your neighbor go check on it - one of the clips could have slipped off, something/one may have unplugged it, or something may have tripped a breaker on the circuit your tender is plugged into. Definitely seems like you'll want someone to check it out since it sounds like you can't do it yourself due to being away.

Circled location below or any good chassis ground. Basically anywhere expect the negative battery post or clamp.

That is precisely where I hooked up the charger. I'll ask my neighbor to check the GFI.

My neighbor just checked on it. The tender was powered on and in storage mode, everything looked fine. He disconnected and reconnected the charger which got the charger to show charging at the nearly full rate. He didn't change where I had the charger clamps connected. That got the app to start working on my phone, I can see my fuel level and tire pressure which I couldn't before. Now at the top of the app screen there is a spinning circle showing some unknown activity, the screen still says "Battery saver mode start your vehicle manually now to access re..." now it just went out. All the while the little progress wheel just keeps spinning, there's a message that comes up periodically telling me to "pull refresh and counts up by seconds . Then a message comes up saying that update failed then goes back to the spinning progress wheel.
I turned off the automatic updates to see if that would stop it, it didn't and then it turned automatic updates back on by itself.
I don't have the warning on my phone screen anymore but this thing running in the background is draining my battery. I guess I'd have to remove the app to stop it.
Anybody got any advice for me?

Yeah, id say you might have to just relax for a bit.

Fairly certain most newer Ford vehicles will enter sleep mode, after 2 weeks, to preserve battery function and memory. After you start it, it'll ve fine.

No need to refresh your app, remove it, or have Brinks put a vault around your bronco.

I'm more worried about my phone than the Bronco. It's constantly running and draining my phone battery. I've signed out of the app, I don't know if the app is still actve in my phone or not.

You could either:
• terminate background services
- by closing the app
- Uninstalling
• limit the apps process
> settings
> apps
> Ford
> battery
• turn 'unrestricted' or 'optimized' to 'restricted'
> mobile data
• 'limit background services' > off

The latter option will allow you to keep the app installed, by only allowing it to operate when youre using the app; the former, well, solves all.

Being retired and with several other vehicles my Bronco has limited use. I get the “ things turned off to save battery” indicator. I also get the “ turn off your vehicle and other options” AFTER I have turned off the vehicle. lol. Only thing I noticebis the tailgate Auto Unlock isn’t operating and the interior lights and screen don’t activate when I open the door. Once instart the Bronco the screen works without issue. As for the interior lights, maybe my old man arse has accidentally shut them down somehow.

I don't know how to do any of those things but I guess I need to figure it out. I woke up this morning to a dead phone batttery after signing out of the app last night, so that obviously didn't help.

I can't post pics, for some reason. I'll see if I can find a youtube for you.
