While I'm waiting on my roof rack to be delivered, I'm wondering what the downsides are to fabricating an adapter to mount the rear of the roof rack to the roll bar at a few mounting points. Has anyone done this or can think of the pitfalls to doing so? It could be as strong, or likely, stronger than mounting to the MIC top.

I'm not sure yet what that adapter would look like, but likely some type of 360 degree clamp around the roll bar for rigidity and stability.

BTW, check out my traction board brackets in my signature if you haven't already :)

It should be stronger as it would be bolt on, with the pre-drilled and threaded mount points on the roll bar.

I didnt like the cost, nor lead time for the roof rack, so I was going to fabricate my own and will share here when completed. Version 1 will be welded MIC clamps and Version 2 i'll have professionally bent with 3/16 plate. Seems like robbery the amount they are charging for the rails.
