Hello All:
2021, Badlands, Sas. 2.7, auto. Once in a while I am experiencing some really rough shifting in lower gears. Anyone else experiencing this?
About to take her in for 1000 mile oil change and will notify dealer, but curious if anyone else is having the same issue and/or if there was any resolution.

Thanks.
Bronco on !!!!!
Mine shifts rough on the lower gears when the trans temp is cold. Once the trans temp comes up , the shifting smoothes out. I usually notice it for about five minutes in the morning when I take off for work.

Is it usually when you're going slowly? Ie mostly in parking lots or pulling out of the driveway, and probably 1st into 2nd?

Honest question ... how many motors have those sheets of paper saved?

I can understand an oil temp and oil pressure gauge for piece of mind but never quite understood the oil analysis. Coming from a guy who has worked in industrial hydraulics the last 8 years, with the last 3 solely R&D. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sometimes oil matters, most times it doesn't.
Saved? Probably next to none. They certainly aren't going to fix a problem. But watching the trend over time can help you catch a problem early. They aren't just looking at metals in the oil. They check if your oil is still the weight it's supposed to be. Let you know if you have any fuel dilution. Indicators of coolant in oil. They're actually very thorough and it's info I like to have and can help your motor stay running good for longer.

I've worked closely with Lubtech the last 3 years. Sent countless samples for R&D on hydraulic pumps. Still don't see a benefit for my Bronco engine. I wouldn't even need to pay for the results.

That's fine, no one is making you do it. Fortunately it's totally optional. Some of us will consider it valuable info, most won't give a fuck and that's okay. I won't be doing it every change on my Bronco for its lifespan. But in my 14,200 rpm motorcycle with a $15,000 engine I watch it closely, every change. In my RS with the made of glass and known for fuel dilution 2.3 it got a sample every other change at least. You better believe my 5.2 Voodoo will be getting regular samples, but I never sample my 6.0 because I simply don't care.

The Bronco...maybe every 3rd once I'm past break in. Who knows. Maybe the 2.7 won't give me a reason to do regular samples. Other motors do.

You wouldn't be getting samples for work if there was nothing to be learned from them. Same applies to our cars.

That’s how the 10 speed works, my current 21 f150 does it 6,000 miles, my 2018 f150 did it. Rough shifts in the lower gear’s accelerating and slowing down. Thats why I ordered the manual transmission in my bronco.
Holy cow! Nice Torino!! Wanna trade for an EB? 1969?

Thanks, still looks great for a 24 year old restoration, with under 40k miles on it. Worked with my dad and grandpa on it, will not be trading or selling it.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. That's exactly what my Chevy Silverado was like - it had these hard BAM like shifts, sometimes hard enough to jolt the truck as the shift occurred. Exactly like you said, "hard shifts". It would get better as the vehicle warmed up - ie heading out from the house it would do the "bam" shift, but coming from the mall or whatever going slow, no issues with the hard shift.

I talked to my Chevy service department and they said it's not unusual. I recently sold the truck and the guy who bought it felt it, said that his GMC sometimes does it as well.

So while annoying and sounding like it's dangerous, it's likely not a big issue. Heck my Audi does these weird shifting things before the transmission is fully heated...strange and annoying.

Ouch. Did it get increasingly worse, or just blow? Thanks

It just blew and actually I gave the car to a tech at the dealer. He drove it home 50 miles away. Driving in the next morning it blew out and was stuck 35 miles from dealership
