I'm rocking an FSR Aspen Lite. I wanted to go with the lightest tent I could get that still had some insulation in it. (There are lighter ones but they are similar in construction and materials to a Walmart coleman tent). It's a "softshell" so you have to be mindfull of wheeling it around trees, but with the extra cover they provide to protect it I've never had any punctures while using it in the forest trails of Arkansas.

Weight was truly what made me go with it. At about 110lbs, I can mount it on and off by myself with no help or use of lifts.

It is a wedge style so if you are tall you might want to look at other options. For me, it is perfectly sized for me and a 80lb Labrador.

I have a TopOak galaxy light. Its a little heavier than than the aspenlite, around 130lbs total.

Only advice I would suggest is do you own risk vs benefit regarding dynamic and static weights of oem roof rack (110lbs dynamic, 450lbs static). I was exceeding both weights with rtt and 2 people sleeping in the tent. I ended up upgrading my roofrack and tent mounts. It definitely made a difference in driving feel and overall stability.

Hi
I see you have a Trailrax. I just upgraded to that and I cannot for the life of me attach my tent. I have a Stirling Wasatch light so not your same tent. Did you use any special brackets? Thank you.!

I originally had the tent mounted with TopOak mounting clamps to the trailrax but due to the T slot spacing on the tent and crossbars it made the tent bounce and flex alot because the mounting points were too close together.

I ended up using Trailrax HD 1.5in Riser tent mounts and spacing them as far apart in relation to vehicle length. Tent mounts are bolted to crossbars then the tent is bolted to the mounts. I dont think trailrax specific tent mounts are required, any T slot style mount should work. I just picked the trailrax specific ones because they were on sale

For ease of install, I took the front panels off to gain access to the front mounts while installing rack and tent. Just be careful because sliding the panels back in place under the rack, there is little tolerance before you start scrapping the hardtop panels against the rack.

Hi Hilary,
Check out our tent mounts! Their triangulated design makes them incredibly sturdy, with each mount spanning two crossbars to better distribute the weight of your rooftop tent. Side note — loving the purple ombré!

Thank you for this! Did you use 4 or 6 tent mounts?

Any chance of a discount code? I feel frustrated that I have to spend more money just to get my tent on. I honestly bought the rack thinking it was gonna solve my problems from the OEM one. Working through the same issues to get my recovery boards mounted as well. Any help will be much appreciated.!
