Rusted out Westin HDX side steps

Anyone have experience with Westin warranty claims?

I purchased a 22 CPO Wildtrak and it had the Westin HDX side steps installed. 3 out of the 4 steps are chipped and rusted.

All emails are getting auto replies with a case number. Hoping they stand behind their products as these aren't even 2 yrs old.

I have Westin Grate running boards. I haven't had an issue with the coating on the steps but I did call their phone support when I noticed the screw hardware rusting a little after 1 year. The guy I spoke to seemed eager enough to help and offered to send me another set of screw hardware. Try calling them.

Got a reply today, getting more info over to them and will update this thread... still surprised at how these deteriorated over such a short time.

Rusted out? Paint/powder coat coming off in a high wear area exposing bare metal is not rusted out. Wire brush, some primer and a good textured black spray paint would make it like new.

Unless you've wheeled on the beach every day since you got it and have never washed it, 2 years is way too fast to look that bad. I hope Westin does the right thing for you here. If they don't, I recommend wire brush, rust stop primer and bedliner.

Agreed, I had NFab steps on my Rubicon for 6 years and they held up great.

Thanks all for the recommendations on wire brush primer and paint, will explore that if Westin doesn't back up their products. I am just concerned with the paint not matching.

Hopefully Westin helps you out with these, but I agree with the next option noted above with the bedline spray. Not only will it not have a future problem like this, but it’ll be more durable and offer a good non-slip surface. If you go with a product like LineX, I think they offer various colours as well.

for your 4-Door westin makes two different versions of that side steps: 410 stainless steel (5 year warranty) and also a lesser steel version (3 year warranty) my 2-door Westin steps are only available in the lesser grade steel.
