First it's not cheaper for the 2.7L-But the cost is not baked in to the mid package, see my post above. It's cheaper to get the mid w/auto than a stand alone auto upgrade on a BD or BB....
So Auto is already Standard ( baked -in ) when you select the Mid-Package and the upcharge is just $1495.

Clearly Ford doesn't want to sell you the 2.3L & auto without the Mid-Package. If you want to force their hand they will gladly charge you $1595.
