At 16/17 mpg, it starts to make sense to have a fuel miser beater which can pay for itself in fuel savings.
I dumped my diesel F250 years ago (paid off) and took on an Outback payment.
I saved so much on fuel costs I was actually money ahead every month even though I had a car payment on top of the fuel costs. I didn't quite expect that kind of return.

Run the numbers folks!

My WT is getting 21mpg right now. I am very happy with that when my Raptor was only getting 16.8 mpg. I knew what I was getting in to. At the end of the day you need to be happy with what you got period.
16.8 city? HTF are you getting that?

Really like the looks and test drive we did on the Crosstrek. So I am keeping my Bronco and buying a Crosstrek. Will be replacing the 09 Jeep Patriot that is going to the granddaughter in Dec when she turns 16.

Tried to convince the other half she needed the more door Bronco so I could order a 2 door but she wants the Crosstrek.

I look forward to mine!
I have a 2002 Lexus rx300. I only use the cargo area, never the back seats or doors and it averages 17.3mpg since I’ve owned it.
And my wife and I did many, many trips in a g37 convertible with the top down
I hope a 2 door has more room than that. We can do 10 days with a carryon so I have to assume if everything fits inside the overhead of a plane then it fits in the 2 door bronco!

I am planning on making a flat floor for the bronco though

Is it strange that I had to google Crosstrek to find out who made it? I’m not a big Subaru fan but get why others like them as we had a place in Lake Tahoe for many years and had neighbors that were die hard Subaru fans. I wouldn’t want the Bronco as my daily driver especially if I did mostly highway miles. I love having a Bronco but we have other vehicles including a Range Rover diesel(29mpg) to drive that are certainly way better for a highway trip.
29 mpg is great but how much are you paying for diesel?

there are Subaru folks and there 4 wheeling folks...party on!!
As I read on here before:

For a lot of guys, they will get all puckered up taking their Squatched Bronco down some nasty rutted, muddy logging trail to get to that super remote camping spot, they'll be so grateful they got the hardcore offroad options to get through that stuff.
When they finally get to the site, they'll most likely find it has already been occupied by a couple gals who took the same trail... driving a Subaru.

There's a ton of truth in that comment.

I gotta admit, I preferred Mary Ann over Ginger anyways....but, I do like my 2022 Black Diamond 4 door
There's something to be said for experience... Mary Ann and Ginger were hot, but I'll bet Mrs. Howell could suck the chrome off a bumper.

I love the Crosstreks - been trying to convince my wife for years that that's what she needs. BTW, Mary Ann is hotter than Ginger - always thought she'd be fun on a hayride - Ginger reminds me of a high maintenance PITA.

Yep and $70 a month minimum on liability only for a beater is absolutely better spent on fuel

oddly enough every beater I’ve owned eventually needs maintenance Money too

Whatever works for you. Broncos aren't for everyone. Having owned Subarus I'm just not a fan of the boxer engine, I tried to like it because I liked the basic packaging of the Forester but that engine mated with their CVT was a miserable combination.

Perhaps a Bronco Sport might have been the better choice originally.
