Hey Texans, I’m flying in next Thursday for the night and wanted to find a decent local steak house, will be staying at the Embassy Suites near DFW.
Thanks,

Hi rgwinn, you can get a pretty decent steak at Bob's Steak and Chophouse in Grapevine, not too far from the airport. (https://bobs-steakandchop.com/). There are also Bob's on Lemmon Ave. in Dallas, and at the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. All pretty good.

However, if you're willing to drive to Dallas, I can also give a thumbs-up to a steak at III Forks (don't know Chamberlains.) If you head to Fort Worth, I heartily recommend Lonesome Dove, northside of Fort Worth on Main St, near the Stockyards. After dinner you might take a stroll down Exchange St., maybe stick your head in Billy Bob's.

Safe travels!

I think you’re better off going for some Texas BBQ. To this day I’ve never had a steak better than I can cook one myself. Texas BBQ brisket on the other hand changed my life.

Gotcha, guess I’m open to BBQ recommendations.

There are many, depends where you will be driving, here are two on the north side of the metroplex, which are about 30 minutes from DFW. You also have to know how to order Texas brisket, sliced or chopped (mixed with bbq sauce), chopped is my favorite.

Hard 8 will get you the classic Texas pit bbq atmosphere and they are usually the ones you see coming back from a commercial during a Cowboy games. The Colony location is real close to the airport. They sell by the pound so it is best to order a 1/4 lbs of this and a 1/4 lbs of that, etc. Careful as it can add up quick. Skip the sides and they have a big pot of beans inside that you (used to) help yourself too.

or if you are down by the Stockyards in FTW:

Careful, on the Steakhouse recommendations or you may find yourself dropping some big coin before you know it. We have some of the best steakhouses down here and they all know it.

For a moderately priced chain restaurant you can't go wrong with Saltgrass. Grapevine location is close to the airport.

I see someone already recommended Bobs and Lonesome Dove (personal favorite) but here are some other close to the airport recommendations that won't come cheap:

III Forks,
Chamberlain’s
Gotta second III Forks. "Back in the day" on my Dallas trips we'd go to Del Frisco's Double Eagle, and it was very, very good. Then the founder opened III Forks. Wow. Last time I was there (really dating myself) my party was having a really great time but noticed a steady stream of "beautiful people" heading upstairs. Next day reading the local paper realized it was Emmitt Smith's birthday party(for those that don't follow football, Mr. Smith was a star running back in the NFL).

There's a III Forks literally across the street from me that I can see from my window but, sadly, it's a pale imitation of the Dallas original. Went there once and while the service was good the food just wasn't up to par. Too many great steakhouses in Chicago to waste time/money there. Hanging out on the rooftop patio for cocktails is fine, but get my steaks elsewhere (but the Dallas version was GREAT).

Definitely recommend Hutchins. It's worth the drive to McKinney.

Hard 8 is also a great stop. That will be closer than McKinney and still very good.

Nothing wrong with KC BBQ but it is a whole different animal than Texas BBQ.

Depends on where you will be but Heim's BBQ in Fort Worth and Lockhart Smokehouse or Pecan Lodge in Dallas are all good.
