Strange FDRS Issue/Mongoose

So I've got a 23 Bronco and a 24 F150. I've never had an issue connecting to my F150 with FDRS. The Bronco has always been temperamental until lately it just wouldn't connect at all. It would read the VIN but then give a VIN Error. After trying everything Ford had me try, I remembered I had a Chinese VCM3 Clone (I work on a lot of older powerstrokes) and figured I'd give it a try. Lo and behold it worked perfectly, did all my updates and configured my trailer module I added. Just curious If there is a setting I may be missing on the mongoose or something else I could be doing wrong. I'm not too crazy about using that VCM for anything uber critical, But I may just need to bite the bullet and buy a real one.

Strange. I have several Mongooses that I loan out to people on the forums. A member on the F150 forum just received one of them in the mail today and said FDRS is not recognizing it at all. He tried it on two different laptops and nothing. I wonder if there is something going on on Ford's side?

I wondered the same thing. It would totally make more sense if my mongoose just stopped working all together after an update. This is just strange. It still works great on my F150. I’ll hook it up again and post the exact error tonight

The guy with the F150 had some drivers from a cheap knock-off cable installed that was preventing the Mongoose from being detected and was able to get it to work. Not sure what could be going on in your case, tbh.
