Subwoofer Delete - 4ohm vs 2ohm?

I replaced all 6 standard speakers with Kicker DS series speakers with 600hz bass blockers on the dash speakers. My amp is the Fusion in recommended that I bought off Ebay. I first installed the 2ohm Kicker 6.75 and was happy. It was as described above a muddier sound that had more vibrations. After reading the subs on the 4ohm thinking, I ordered the 4ohm version of the same Kicker 6.75 and installed along with some sound deadening. Now it sounds crisper and less out of place with the rest of the speakers. Before you could also pick out the sub while listening. Now it is more integrated with the rest. I did not plug the port on the enclosure.

I debated swapping out but am glad I did.

Anyone want a cheap 2ohm?

Can these voice coils be wired in series or parallel (to increase or decrease total impedance)?

Yes, that would normally be how a DVC sub is used, wiring the coils together and using a single mono amp output. Normal Ohm's law rules apply.

Quick follow up... While the Tang Band sub might spec better than the Kicker for our enclosure, it is NOT a drop in install. On paper it says it's 1mm larger mounting diameter than the Kicker, but it would take a fair amount of enclosure modification to install.

Back to the 4ohm Kicker... Now to decide on leaving the port or sealing it off.

Great discussion. One question I have…. What is the ohms of stock sub? I have the stock sub non lux. And is it an 8 inch or 6.5”? Before I start upgrading…..
Also does the stock amp care if it’s 2 or 4 ohm? No idea on the specifications of the stock sub system. If it’s a 6”. Will the 8” be a good upgrade and will it fit with much cutting?

This is the non-BO sub. The OEM amp has 2 separate channels (they could be wired internally parallel or serial, I don’t know)
