Have this already typed up in the build thread, but most aren’t interested in seeing the latest stickers one has installed or how many rubber-duck-color-matched light bezels are now being ran. Absolutely I get it. Plus-it’s mofuggin Pritchett. The “hardest public” trail in Moab. Or so I’m told. So in hindsight it seems appropriate that the trail has it’s own thread.
We went into it with the mentality that we had nothing to prove and that flipping the bronco over for a nap makes it difficult to continue wheeling. If we don’t get an obstacle on the first few tries, time to bail out.
The first hilarious part was simply dropping in. It’s a few steps down, each one a couple feet high, but what was funny about it was long before wifey ever started wheeling, we showed up to Pritchett not knowing what it was. We hiked in to this particular spot and I told her we’d drag a little, but it wouldn’t be a problem. She was not about that life. Not one bit. Made a good point that we wouldn’t make it out if it was a down and back trail. Now? She just drives down it like it’s nothing
The trail itself is everything you see on youtube, just worse. But between the obstacles, it’s really kinda boring. Absolutely gorgeous scenery though. And when you get to obstacles, suddenly the stakes are 10/10. Very easy to see how people roll so often. Unless you’re in a rock bouncer, if your line doesn’t go just as planned you aren’t making it. That definitely happened to us on more than a couple occasions. The JK on 42’s that was with us said that any time there is rain, the trail is completely different afterward. One day you’ll nail everything and think you have the baddest rig ever, and the next day you fail miserably on everything.
We ended up winching on Chewy, Rocker Knocker, the second half of axle hill, and Rockpile. Chewy and Rocker Knocker were both traction issues. Chewy was super dug out and we just kept spitting the rocks out when trying to climb. Rocker we got to the notch and had the slider on the rock to pivot, but just could not get traction to follow through. Axle hill we got to the first shelf then couldn’t steer. No amount of Austin Powers moves would work. And Rock pile was just preposterous. Then we broke a front axle while getting winched out.
Still a successful trail, even with the winching. The tuning by @GooseTuned made a HUGE difference. Two-footed driving and properly bumping was awesome. I drove the two hours out from the end of Pritchett and just put it into 2H, and wifey was pretty amazed at what could be accomplished simply with a locker, a bump, and RWD only. The two hour drive out really isn’t an exaggeration. It’s a jaunt. With the suspension changes though-lawdy could we fly. But then stop and wait at every turn to make certain others don’t get lost, as is customary.
I believe we have more footage on action camera. I’ll update when we find it.
