My wife and I drove our 2021 2-Door BaseQuatch from Northern IL out to CA to run the Rubicon Trail with @Bird Dog Off Road and some rigs from Inland NW Bronco Club.

We took our time getting out there… thru the San Juans in Colorado, New Mexico, Moab, Utah, and Nevada.

We spent 3 days on the Rubicon… camping a night at both Buck Island and Rubicon Springs.

The trail is worthy of the hype, and I’d like to run it many more times before my time on this earth is up!

The Bronco itself, did fantastic! The little 2.3L managed a 15.8mpg average for the whole trip (the comp, and actual gallons were close, I think it was 15.75 by calculator)… which I think is pretty reasonable for a RTT, 37s, heavy wheels, and 2 weeks worth of stuff and camping gear packed inside (it was PACKED).

For anyone interested, we uploaded the videos from the trail on our YouTube channel… they can viewed here by day:

Rubicon Trail Day 1 (Loon Lake to Buck Island)

Rubicon Trail Day 2 (Buck Island to Rubicon Springs)

Rubicon Trail Day 3 (Cadillac Hill to Observation Point and out)

Here are some pics from the ride out, and the trail!

That's impossible. Everyone knows 2-doors don't have enough room to carry a toothbrush, let a lone stuff for 2 people for several days.
lmao that certainly felt accurate.

we had a fridge, battery pack, portable blackstone, camping chairs, professional camera equipment, 2 suitcases, and a large toiletry bag, plus odds and ends inside… and then tools, recovery gear, and spare parts strapped to the spare tire.

I don't see deodorant and/or soap on that list.

Effing savages!

Awesome trip - after recently finishing a coast to coast run with stops in Sedona, Tahoe, Moab, and Taos I am glad I got the 4-door. I still had room to sleep in my vehicle a few nights without any tent. I like the color of your Bronco.

Thanks!

There were definitely times where I had wished we took the Mrs’ 4-door… but it’s not quite outfitted for the same purpose as our 2-Door lol.

damn that was nice. envious here considering i don't have the group anymore which we had in the late 80's, drove a 73 EB back then. a good spotter is always essential for hobbyist like me. i wonder if you found the front camera useful....?

We were definitely lucky to do the trail with a great group, and they did some phenomenal spotting! Seeing their EBs work the trail makes me want to add one to the stable!

Ours is a base, so I don’t have a front camera, but I would’ve loved to have it in this instance!
